SCIP offers specification writers the ability to expand their reach, to network with other specification writers and the product representatives that support them, to share and enhance knowledge about specification writing, and grow professionally.

Membership Types


Active Member


Available to:
  • Independent Specification Consultants or employed by a company engaged in independent specification consulting.

  • Engaged in the preparation of specifications for at least five years

  • Spend more than 50% of working hours preparing and editing construction project specifications and master specifications in multiple Divisions of CSI/CSC Master Format or an equivalent recognized international specifications organizations system

Affiliate Member


Available to:
  • Independent Specification Consultants having less than five years experience

  • Specification consultant employed by a government, architectural or engineering firm.

  • Spend more than 50% of working hours preparing and editing construction project specifications and master specifications in multiple Divisions of CSI/CSC Master Format or an equivalent recognized international specifications organizations system

Retired Member


Available to:
  • Members in good standing who are retired from specifications practice but who have been an Active Member or Affiliate Member for at least five continuous years prior to retirement.


Emeritus Member


Available to:
  • Members in good standing who have reached the age of 70 years and been an Active Member or Affiliate Member of the Corporation for the ten years immediately preceding application for change of status.

SCIP MEMBERSHIP – July 1 through June 30

  • New Member (full year dues) $100.00
  • New Member (after January 1) $50.00*
  • New Affiliate (full year dues) $100.00
  • New Affiliate (after January 1) $50.00*
  • Retirees – No dues payment required


*Initial dues for members joining in the last half of the fiscal year are one-half annual dues.





Application Process

 

  1. Complete your application for membership through our online form. 
    To avoid delays, be sure to choose the correct Membership Type.

  2. Once submitted, your application will be reviewed by the Membership Chair and Board of Directors. 

  3. Once reviewed, you will be notified of the decision and be allowed to complete payment if your application is approved. 

  4. Failure to complete payment in a timely manner, may result in additional delays in activating your membership.
